HOW DO YOU MAKE MONEY AS A BLOGGER?
If you’re not hired as a freelance writer by a site and you don’t hold conferences, how do you make money as a blogger? Let’s be honest, Google AdSense just doesn’t cut it. There must be more…
Do you have sponsors? If so, how exactly did you get the deals? I feel like there needs to be some sort of alliance for bloggers (like actors have with SAG and writers have with the Writer’s Guild). Can you tell I’m a bit frustrated by the equity split? We offer up free PR - free work - for what? (Don’t you dare say free products!)
I’ve had it up to my ears trying to get some form of decent compensation for the free work I do. The only people making money off of these efforts are big corporations and the few people (like me) fortunate enough to have an agency behind them to pitch deals.
Even with that sort of support, I find it difficult to really see an end to this work-for-pennies future. I’m fine because I have a company behind me, but what about the bloggers operating as an independant contractors. How do they survive?
If anyone has an answer to this ongoing quest of how to monetize doing what you love for a living, please chime in. Today, I’m pretty much peeved about the state of the industry and how incongruent marketing budgets can be in the digital space.
Yes, I am an angry blogger - watch out!
